Which? also found 15 of the biggest train operators use 0844 or 0845 numbers for their customer helplines. The investigation found 24 of the 38 airlines included in the study give high rate numbers for consumers to call for customer service or to complain, while 11 ferry companies give 0871, 0872, 0845 or 0843 numbers for customer inquiries.

Replying to Curtorim Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco's question on fake travel agencies, the Saligao MLA said action against the 10 agencies, under relevant provisions of the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, is under way. Of the 10, six operate in the costal belt of north Goa, specifically around Calangute, Morjim, Candolim, etc, while in the south, all four fake travel agencies operate from Margao.
